There are 219 dementia care services in Leicester registered with the Care Quality Commission. 96 carry a published CQC rating, and 74 of those are rated Good or Outstanding. The other 123 are unrated, which usually means they have not been inspected since registering rather than that anything is wrong. Privately arranged care is quoted by the hour, and the Homecare Association puts the minimum a provider must charge in 2026-27 at £34.42, or about £481.88 a week for two half-hour visits a day. The council paid providers £19.98 an hour in 2023-24, the 38th lowest of 150 councils in England and 6% below the £21.19 median. That is 219 of the 277 home care services in Leicester. Registration sets what a service is allowed to provide. It does not say how well it does it, so read the inspection report and ring two or three before you decide.
