How we order search results
Money affects the order of results on this site. Every directory that takes money from the businesses it lists has to decide how honest to be about that. This is us being honest about it.
The order, in full
- 1. Plan. Platinum listings appear above Pro, and Pro above free.
- 2. Review score. Within a plan, higher scores come first, and any service with a score sits above one without.
- 3. A daily shuffle. Services with no review score are ordered at random, reshuffled every day.
Why the shuffle
Without it, unranked services would sit in whatever order our database happened to return, which usually means alphabetical. The same agency would take the top of its town every day for no reason except its name. The shuffle spreads that exposure, and it changes daily so nobody is stuck at the bottom either.
What money does not do
- It does not change a review score, or hide a bad review. See how scoring works.
- It does not change any CQC registration detail. Those come from the register and are the same on every plan.
- It does not remove competitors from a profile page. Some directories sell that. We do not.
- It does not affect the order when you choose a sort of your own. Sort by review score and the best-reviewed service is first, whatever anyone has paid.
Featured placement
Separately from plans, a service can pay to appear in a box at the top of a page. That box is labelled “Paid placement” every time it appears, and the results below it are ordered exactly as described above.
